History

Founded in 1982 by a German immigrant and cabinetmaker, Martin Hammerl, the company began as a traditional European joinery shop rooted in craftsmanship, precision and attention to detail. In 2020, the company underwent a modernization that expanded our technical and production capabilities while preserving the traditional joinery principles that shop was built on. This evolution became the foundation of our Design + Craft process. Today, we specialize in large-scale, finely detailed millwork packages for prestigious, design-led projects.

Belief

For us, the measure of a great interior is how it makes you feel, not how it looks.

Millwork is inherently tactile. It is something we touch, open, close and interact with every day. These physical interactions are why functionality, proportions, hardware, details and materials matter to us.

We have a particular appreciation for honest, natural materials and the way they age through use. We believe the materials should not simply withstand time, but become richer because of it.

We believe design intent should not be lost or simplified in the making of millwork. This belief is the heart of our Design + Craft process.

People

Our strength lies in our people. We are a team of project managers, technical designers, cabinetmakers, finishers and apprentices who share a deep appreciation for design and craft.

We challenge one another to continually raise the standard, and we welcome the same challenge from our clients, architects, designers and building partners. Because ultimately exceptional work comes from people who care about what they create.

Knowledge

Exceptional millwork requires more than manufacturing cabinetry. It requires understanding the design intent and having technical knowledge and skill to execute it.

Our expertise extends into specialized spaces such as kitchens, wine cellars, and saunas. These spaces require an understanding of functionality, planning, equipment, lighting, ventilation, refrigeration, temperature and humidity control and other building systems alongside the millwork itself. This broader knowledge allows us to contribute to the complete solution rather than treating cabinetry as an isolated component.

Workshop

Our workshop located in Kelowna, BC is equipped for the production of intricate, high-end architectural millwork. Modern manufacturing technology provides precision and efficiency, while traditional joinery remains essential to the detailing, finishing and assembly of our work.

The scale of the facility allows us to mock up, assemble and stage significant portions of a project prior to shipping.
